My name is Matthew McCormick and I am from Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. I am a graduate of the Business Management & Entrepreneurship program at Oulton College. When deciding where I was going to go after high school, I looked into a couple of different colleges. Then, I visited Oulton College and knew this was where I needed to go! The admissions team was very friendly and gave me all the information I needed (Program breakdown, accommodations in the area, career options, and financial information). I was eager to enter the work force, so the accelerated program fit my needs perfectly.
Oulton College also gave me the tools I needed to pursue my CAPM designation. The CAPM stands for Certified Associate in Project Management, which is an internationally recognized designation, and is regulated by the Project Management Institute. I didn’t even realize that Project Management was a career - until I started at Oulton College. Through the Business Management & Entrepreneurship’s extensive project management class, I qualified to write the certification, as well as gained a ton of knowledge in the project management field.
Fast forward to today and I am now working full time in marketing, invoicing, payroll, inventory and implementing quality management systems for a warehouse solutions company. I also recently launched a Digital Marketing company, EC Marketing Connect. We focus on lead capture, social media management, website optimization, website creation, strategic ad placement, and strategic planning. The industry is fast paced and demanding, but I really enjoy it. The topics I studied are all extremely relevant for what I am doing in my current positions.
